An Esperanto Experience for All!

Would you like to connect with Esperanto speakers, improve your skills, and explore the vibrant culture of Portland, Oregon? The Nordokcidenta Regiona Esperanto-Konferenco (NOREK) 2025 invites you to a three-day event filled with engaging talks, lively discussions, and unique excursions. Whether you're fluent or just starting, you'll find activities designed for all levels of Esperanto speakers!

 

A Weekend of Fun and Learning

The evening of Friday, August 22 will be a meet and greet at a local restaurant.

The main activities will take place on Saturday, August 23, with exciting opportunities for both in-person and online participants. The in-person event will feature:

• Talks given in Esperanto

• Fun activities in Esperanto

• Meals shared together

• Chances to practice Esperanto together

​

The evening will be filled with games and a hilarious sci-fi B-movie in Esperanto (for in-person attendees only).

​

Sunday August 24 will include an optional excursion, a visit to the Saturday Market (on Sunday!) and Powell's City of Books.

New to Esperanto? No Problem!

If you're new to Esperanto, you'll find plenty of welcoming activities, including:

• Mini-lessons to help you start speaking right away

• Games and songs to make learning fun

• Friendly conversations with experienced Esperanto speakers

 

A Small Virtual Program for Remote Participants

We recognize that not everyone can join in person. For remote participants, we will host a special online session This session will last 1 to 1.5 hours.

$15 USD per person if paid by July 1, 2025 (We will be accepting Venmo, Cashapp and Paypal). If paid after July 1, 2025, the cost is $20 USD per person. This may be paid via Venmo, Cashapp, or Paypal or by cash at the door. This covers the cost of the venue, snacks, help with transportation, and other incidental costs. Additional donations are gratefully accepted. If cost is a barrier to coming, please reach out to us at info@esperantopdx.org.

Give a Talk

If you are interested in giving a talk at NOREK in Esperanto, we are offering a $5 USD per person discount for all who participate.
